100Wave Challenge is catching a new break this year.

Because of exciting upgrades happening sooner than expected at Strandfontein Pavilion, our much-loved surfathon is officially heading to the vibrant shores of Muizenberg Beach on 2 May 2026.

And honestly? We’re excited.

The City announced major improvements at Strandfontein Pavilion to enhance facilities, improve accessibility and create an even more dynamic community space, with completion expected in 2026. While we’ll always cherish the memories made there, we’re celebrating what this means for the future. Growth is a good thing and we’re all for it.

If there’s one thing the ocean has taught us, it’s how to adapt. Conditions change. Tides shift. You paddle anyway.

New Beach. Same Big Waves of Impact

Muizenberg Beach brings its own beauty from colourful huts, rolling beginner-friendly waves and a deep surf heritage that perfectly aligns with the heart of the 100Wave Challenge. The mission hasn’t changed. The energy hasn’t changed. If anything, it just got a fresh spark.

While a few water-based activities will look a little different this year, the shoreline is still going to be buzzing from sunrise to sunset. Expect a hands-on beach clean-up, creative art activations, live music filling the air, volleyball on the sand, an epic air track experience, sandcastle building for the little legends, djembe drumming circles, and classic lawn games for families to enjoy together.

It’s more than an event. It’s a gathering of people who believe that young lives matter.

Our Founder, Nigel Savel, puts it best: “The wave might break somewhere new this year, but the purpose is exactly the same. We’re here to show young people they belong, that they’re seen and that their lives carry value. That doesn’t depend on the location. It depends on the community.”

Ready to Join the Wave?

The 100Wave Challenge remains a bold invitation; ride 100 waves in one day and raise funds to support 9Miles Project’s youth development programmes across our coastal communities. Every wave is symbolic. Every rand raised creates real impact. Every person on the sand becomes part of something bigger.

Now it’s your move.

Sign up. Start your fundraising campaign. Rally your friends. Bring your family. Partner with us. Sponsor a surfer. Show up on the sand.

Don’t sit this one out. Be part of the wave that carries a young person toward hope, belonging, and opportunity.

Register today and join us on 2 May 2026 at Muizenberg Beach.
