We did it!
Our first combined Christmas party with 80 of our kids from Elands Bay, St Francis Bay and Cape Town is done and dusted!

The day dawned beautiful and bright as we prepared to host 100 kids, volunteers, partners and sponsors in leafy Wynberg Park for a day of fun and games and great food and snacks…

Our Elands Bay kids were first to arrive and tumbled off the bus after their 3-hour journey…and the rest of the kids came streaming in shortly after…

There were shy hellos and introductions as the kids got to know each other and then introduced themselves to our partners and volunteers. And then it was time to get stuck into competitive games of soccer and swing ball…while others dispersed to take on the play park

The power of community…

We are thankful to the following partners who made our day a huge success:

Old Mutual‘s Information Security team came out in force to volunteer and provide cyber security talks, games and giveaways for the kids. They were also instrumental in the huge success of the day by getting our kids gifts, transport and meals etc.

Old Mutual staff preparing lunch…

Sarmies, warm koesisters, boerewors rolls, braaied chicken and salads and ice lollies were just some of the amazing treats on offer and we are thankful to the Old Mutual braaimasters who did a sterling job with the chicken and wors!

The kids tucking in to lunch…

In addition to all the fun and chaos, we also had Dr Ryan and his team from Mullers Dental Studio doing dental assessments on our Elands Bay kids in preparation for his trip up the West Coast next year to provide them with dental care….they also handed out toothpaste and toothbrushes courtesy of Colgate.  They’ve really caught the stoke and become part of the family… Thanks Dr Ryan!

The team from LightSail Education dropped by with goodie bags and printed certificates for all our students who participated in the Lightsail online reading programme

Greg Bertish of The Little Optimist donated books to kids as awesome stocking fillers….and Westlake False Bay College donated amazing Santa boxes to our Elands Bay kids.

The kids had a ball.. Surfer Santa showed up for some gift giving…and a competitive dance-off concluded the day’s festivities!

We are so grateful to everyone who helped us to bring the family together this Christmas. It’s a day we will cherish forever! Thank you to everyone for your part in making this dream come true.
