"Relaunching Instinct in my hometown where I started it and incorporating revenue from every sale to empower underprivileged students is a dream come true. Business can solve big social problems but if I can just help with one small problem, the life trajectory of a student, then my mission will be fulfilled."
Established In April 2017
The St. Francis Surf Project was established in April 2017 as a branch of the 9Miles Project when we were introduced to the community by Rachael McCall who founded SONrise South Africa in the area.
The learners are from SeaVista – an area filled with social ills and very few positive recreational activities, much like the other coastal communities that we work in.
life empowerment, mentorship & surfing lessons
Aside from community events and job readiness training such as “Passport to Success” offered to the broader community, there are currently 10 young men who have come up through the programme – three of whom are currently on internships and skills development programmes with our partners in Cape Town, and have received training and job shadowing opportunities in our Cape Town operations so that they can replicate the services and programmes in Sea Vista.
