Calling all Youth in Strandfontein, Mitchells Plain and surrounds… it’s time to Activate your purpose and potential at a fun, free 2-day event!

The first Activate Youth Conference, hosted by Ward 43 Councillor Elton Jansen and the 9Miles Project, will take place at Strandfontein High School Hall on 14 & 15 June 2019.

The inaugural event will provide a platform for young people in the area to connect with one another, access information, and be empowered and inspired by motivational talks, music, poetry, and dance.

Free to youth between the ages of 14 and 21, the event will also be a launchpad for monthly youth meetings which will allow young people to shape and positively impact their communities and provide them with a voice.

Some amazing performers and speakers have already been announced and participants can expect to be entertained by live bands and the likes of dancer Caylum Hughs, poet Chelsea Firelily, Limitless Dance Movement, Afrika Ablaze, Isaac Petersen, Keanon Michaels, and much more …and there is an exciting Open Mic opportunity which local performers or artists can apply for.

“In addition to the invited guests we wanted to showcase all the hidden, and not so hidden talent in our community – there are young people doing amazing things right on our doorstep – and also put on an event which will empower and inspire youth who are yearning for positive interventions” – Nigel Savel, 9Miles Project founder.

“We are very grateful to Councillor Jansen and the City of Cape Town for supporting this initiative – it’s only through effective community partnerships and collaboration that we will create agents of change and future leaders amongst our youth” – Nigel.

Pre-registration for the event is advised and all details and registration forms are available on the 9Miles Project Facebook page under the Activate Youth Conference Event. The Open Mic application and details are also listed on the page.
